Middle Miocene marine flooding: New 40Ar/39Ar age constraints with integrated biostratigraphy on tuffs from the North Croatian Basin

چکیده
In the North Croatian Basin which is located in southwestern part of Pannonian System, Miocene tuff deposits have been observed at several localities area Banovina, Medvednica Mt. and Slavonia. Here we present new 40Ar/39Ar age results obtained from volcanic glass Laz (15.42 ± 0.15 Ma) intercalated with lacustrine freshwater/brackish deposits, Jovac (15.10 0.06 freshwater ?u?erje (14.81 0.08 Nježi? (14.40 0.03 both deposited a marine environment. Fossil data (calcareous nannofossils/foraminifera) underlying overlying beds tuffs match geochronological i.e. NN5 zone M6 were determined. Integration biostratigraphic enable better understanding NCB sedimentary evolution constrain Middle flooding event marginal areas western ~15 Ma early/middle Badenian boundary. These together existence lower sediments Sava depression (in southern NCB) suggest it possible to conclude that during early NCB, environments coexisted.

Biostratigraphy of Oligo-Miocene marine deposits of Central Iran basin based on calcareous nannoplanktons
Background and Objectives: ?????? Methods: ?????? Findings: ?????? Conclusion: ????? The present study is the first study aimed at biostratigraphy based on calcareous nannoplankton that has been performed on all succession exposed from the Oligo-Miocene marine deposits (members a to f of the Qom Formation). The studied deposits are located in the middle part of the Central Iran Zone and m...
متن کاملThe Middle Stone Age of the northern Kenyan Rift: age and context of new archaeological sites from the Kapedo Tuffs.
Rift Valley sites in southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya preserve the oldest fossil remains attributed to Homo sapiens and the earliest archaeological sites attributed to the Middle Stone Age (MSA). New localities from the Kapedo Tuffs augment the sparse sample of MSA sites from the northern Kenya Rift. Tephrostratigraphic correlation with dated pyroclastic deposits from the adjacent volcano S...
متن کاملA new melanopsid (Gastropoda) species from the middle Miocene Kupres Basin (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Melanopsis fateljensis (Caenogastropoda: Cerithiimorpha: Melanopsidae) is described as a new species from the early Middle Miocene lacustrine deposits of the Kupres Basin. Similarities to other co-occurring melanopsids are discussed. Its unique morphology, in particular the elongate, stepped spire with prominent spiral bulges, clearly distinguishes the new species from all other Melanopsidae kn...
متن کاملPaleocene Mammalian Biostratigraphy of the Carbon Basin, Southeastern Wyoming, and Age Constraints on Local Phases of Tectonism
Mammalian fossils from two principal collecting areas in the lower Hanna Formation of the Carbon Basin comprise three faunas, the Grayson Ridge, Halfway Hill, and Sand Creek faunas. The Grayson Ridge and Halfway Hill faunas are diverse, consisting cumulatively of 29 mammalian species, at least two of which are new. The faunas are approximately equivalent in age and are either latest lbrrejonian...
متن کاملAn integrated modeling approach to predict flooding on urban basin.
Correct prediction of flood extents in urban catchments has become a challenging issue. The traditional urban drainage models that consider only the sewerage-network are able to simulate the drainage system correctly until there is no overflow from the network inlet or manhole. When such overflows exist due to insufficient drainage capacity of downstream pipes or channels, it becomes difficult ...
